Another day in a law firm,
Another great action horror movie.
Derek Cho’s (Steven Yeun) narration opens this movie. He works for a prestige law firm and in the world where he lives, there is one virus called ID7 haunting every employee. This virus damages the brain, represses the ego and superego, gives the id a full authority for a human’s mind and body. It turns someone to be easily irritated or super horny or both. One of the symptoms including a reddened eye hence they called it the Red Eye virus.
As he denied and made the fuming Melanie Cross (Samara Weaving) forcefully taken out from the meeting room, he finds out about his unjust credit on a botched case by The Siren (Caroline Chikezie). He rushed out to the big boss, John Towers (Steven Brand) only to get humiliated and fired by the Reaper (Dallas Roberts), the HR. By this time the nation’s health department has arrived and announced that the firm is infected with the Red Eye virus and the quarantine has begun. The firm’s securities shove Derek into a room where Melanie is locked inside. After some punches, they agreed to go on a raid so Derek can pledge for his job back to the boards.
A movie that is so good I barely stayed on my seat. Plus the caffeine I took earlier, or maybe just Steven Yeun. He kicks asses here. A pure talent in delivering rage and lust. Weaving is just as powerful as him. Driven with her intention to defend her home, this girl rocks and got her hands dirty in her The Black Dahlia Murder loose tank top.
A true depiction of a real-world office with more blood spurts and cut tongue! Don’t expect to see humane decency because you will not find it here. But if you’re after politics in the office, the hierarchy thingy, and some fucked up shitheads (sometimes literally) banging each other, then you are all set! A must-watch for fresh graduates about to experience real life.
I don’t mind Yeun’s narration here, I am more pissed at how there was no metal song included in this movie, apart from the glimpses from Melanie’s earphone earlier and her singing, though she does it amazingly.
I am no good reviewer but this movie is bloody fun and refreshing.
